Lovers of sports activities had good news to cheer on yesterday following the resolution by the cabinet to allow all sporting activities to resume after being sidelined for a long period of time following the national lockdown which was imposed to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the country.
The minister of Information and Broadcasting Services Monica Mutsvangwa mad it clear that there will be standard procedures to be observed in line with the World Health Organisation (WHO) regulations and national guidelines.
Delivering the good news to the media after the cabinet, the minister said “Cabinet also agreed that all sporting activities will now resume and observe standard operating procedures.”
Meanwhile, “Restaurants are now allowed to open for sit-ins at 50 percent sitting capacity, under strict adherence to Covid-19 guidelines. Those found breaking the restrictions will be closed immediately“.
Zimbabwe, which recently relaxed COVID-19 regulations is now on the second stage of phase one of the vaccination programme.
Yesterday the country received 400 000 more doses of the Chinese produced vaccines.
To date, Zimbabwe has recorded 36535 positive cases and 1507 Covid-19 related fatalities.
