As the January transfer window heats up, Arsenal is reportedly eyeing Yeremay Hernandez, a forward from Deportivo de La Coruña, as a potential alternative to long-term target Nico Williams.

With several Premier League clubs also interested, Hernandez has emerged as a promising option for Mikel Arteta as he looks to bolster his attacking lineup.

A Rising Star in Spain

The 22-year-old Hernandez has made a significant impact in the Spanish second division this season, scoring seven goals and providing three assists in just 17 league appearances.

His impressive performances have drawn the attention of Arsenal scouts, who have been monitoring his progress closely.

With a release clause set at €20 million (£16.8 million), Deportivo is not willing to negotiate for less.

The Competition He Faces

Arsenal is not alone in its pursuit of Hernandez; other Premier League clubs, including Bournemouth, Brentford, Chelsea, Manchester United, Newcastle, and Nottingham Forest, are also keeping tabs on the young talent.

Italian side Como, managed by former Arsenal player Cesc Fabregas, has also expressed interest.

Nico Williams: A Complicated Pursuit

While Hernandez presents a more affordable option, Nico Williams remains a significant figure in Arsenal’s transfer plans.

The Athletic Bilbao winger has a hefty release clause of around £50 million, along with wage demands that could complicate any potential transfer.

Furthermore, Williams has made it clear that he intends to stay with Athletic Club for the remainder of the season, especially given their current position in La Liga and participation in the Europa League.

Commitment to Deportivo

Despite the allure of joining a Premier League club like Arsenal, reports suggest that Hernandez is content at Deportivo and wishes to repay the faith shown in him by the club.

This commitment could pose challenges for any potential January move, even though it would represent a substantial step up in his career.

A Strategic Move for Arsenal?

As Arsenal navigates its options in the transfer market, the pursuit of Yeremay Hernandez could prove to be a strategic move for strengthening their attacking depth.

With his versatility—capable of playing on either wing or in a central role—Hernandez could provide valuable support to Arteta’s squad.

As interest in both Hernandez and Williams continues to grow, it remains to be seen how Arsenal will approach this crucial period and whether they can secure the right talent to enhance their chances for success this season.
